We accept new members into Konstellation annually through a skill-based audition process. The best way to stay updated about auditions is to follow our Instagram account. Our auditions are usually held annually at the start of Semester 1.Please see the Auditions FAQ section for more information.
- You must be 17 years or older
- You do not need to be a current student at the University of Auckland
- You must not be a secondary school student
- You must be able to attend our in-person audition
We currently have 33 Auckland-based crew members, which include current students and alumni from the University of Auckland and other Auckland tertiary institutions. We also have crew members currently situated overseas. Our current members' ages range from 18 to 27.
Participating in dance covers: our main focus is on filming covers for our YouTube channel. Members will learn the various dances in their own time, and come together to practice and prepare for filming day. All of our covers are filmed and edited internally by our own members.Performing at events: we are offered many performance opportunities throughout the year. Events that we have performed at in the past include K-Festival, Moon Festival, Armageddon and UoA Open Day. We also seek performance or competition opportunities that require auditioning.See our Timeline for a full list of our past public appearances.Social events: Konstellation organises fun days (games, RDP) and outings from time to time. Sometimes, members also game together online!
Yes! We would love to see you at our in-public filmings. Feel free to come and say hi if you spot us!
Our 2026 auditions will be held in the third week of Semester 1.Each audition is conducted privately and takes around 5 minutes to complete. During the audition process, you will answer a few simple questions and dance to sections of two K-pop choreographies.
These can either be the two choreography choices provided by Konstellation, or one of Konstellation's choices along with your own chosen section of a K-pop choreography. Please note that the audition process is subject to change. Our site will be updated regularly with any changes.
Who will be judging my audition, and what will they be looking for?
You will be judged by a small panel consisting of two to three of our executive team members.Things that they will be looking for include dance accuracy, stage/camera presence and lip-syncing, along with other aspects of your performance.
There is no set number of people that we accept each year. Factors contributing to the final number of new members per year include the current number of active crew members and the suitability of auditionees for our crew.
Each cover will practice at least once a week. Members can participate in up to three projects simultaneously.Performances take priority over covers. Practices for performances may exceed once a week depending on time constraints.
Practices are usually held on the University of Auckland city campus on weekday evenings and weekends. Members must be able to travel to the CBD for practice.
